1.2 PHANTASIA GAME JAM Release

The promised Halloween release is finally here! The one was specifically made for PHANTASIA GAME JAM 2022.

This is mostly a quality-of-life and polish release, expanding on certain aspects of the game. Those who have already played it may wish to wait for future releases.

The new release adds 1.6k new words to the story, a few new backgrounds and 13 more menus though some of these menus are related to new quality-of-life features like the option to start a new game by skipping the intro and tutorial. This is very useful for testers and players that want to complete all the content. 

Most controversially, there is now an option to allow the re-rolling of dice rolls by using the "back" button. I badly needed this feature for myself to make testing easier.

It is not recommended to use this feature, as the game is designed to not punish you for bad luck. In fact, some of the best moments can be achieved by failing certain tests. Still, I think it is valuable for players to have this option. If you want your adventure to have a very specific outcome or if you just want to have an easy way to see all the content, this feature is for you!

I also doubled down on the design philosophy that there are no wrong choices. I try to take your choices very seriously and show that they have consequences while still making sure you have a good time regardless of which choice you made. It is your  adventure, after all.

That is why the "Refuse Contract" ending has been expanded, showing you the consequences of your actions. Furthermore, all dead ends allow you to jump back to where the fateful decision was made to get back on the main route. Bye, bye, save scumming! Lean back and enjoy the show!

With the foundation improved, I can finally work on Act 2!
