Analyzing the feedback

Today I re-read all the nice feedback this game has gotten until now and tried to structure it.

I decided to share the list as a thank you and "I hear you" to all the awesome people that took the time to play my game and leave feedback, but also for other devs to maybe have a discussion on how to best analyze the feedback you are getting in a structured way.

The numbers in parentheses denote how many people mentioned something in their feedback.

Things people like:

  • dice mechanic (8)
  • Relationship between MC und Spirit (3)
  • music (2)
  • lore (2)
  • story (2)
  • story book feel
  • flirting with the witch
  • backgrounds
  • ambient sound
  • approach to history
  • character art
  • dialogue
  • butterfly tutorial
  • magic contract
  • "I like this little sociopath"

Things that people want to see:

  • only prologue, want to see more (2)
  • should dice have more that to outcomes?
  • more interactions spirit and MC
  • more killing, more descriptive violence
  • Kiss CG

What could improve:

  • Art style consistency (4)
  • transitions too sudden
  • generic, well-trodden story
  • font for names is hard to read
  • text on black and white background is hard to read
  • trust in dice not being fudged
  • easy access to save menu

Not unsurprisingly, the dice mechanic is the big selling point of this game and I will keep using it in future games. Art style consistency is what needs the most improvement. This is not unexpected. I always felt closer to the coding side of game dev and have lots of room to grow when it comes to the visual side.

I am very glad that people enjoyed the interactions between the MC and the spirit as that was very important to me.

Thank you so much to everyone leaving feedback! I am sorry for not directly responding to you.  I just a bit socially awkward about people giving me positive feedback but please know I really did appreciate it! Your kindness brought me joy and fresh motivation!

Also, I am still on track for a small Halloween release. Stay tuned!
